If you haven’t heard, Swanky Bubbles in Cherry Hill closed this week and will reopen this summer or fall as the second location of Dublin Square, an Irish pub in Bordentown. The bar is owned by two friendly Irish brothers who will fashion their Cherry Hill bar as a “Victorian Dublin-style pub” where they’ll serve traditional vittles and host live Celtic music. Watch this space for details.
A new opening of note is Wine Works, a fancy wine shoppe in Marlton owned by the people behind Landmark Americana. Not only are there artisanal cheeses for sale and a home delivery program, there’s also a state-of-the-art wine sampling machine. For $5, you can purchase a card that carries “points” that can be redeemed for four one-ounce pours of wine per 24-hour period. Old City: Beginning last night, 20 Old City bars will spend every Thursday of the summer offering neighborhood-wide happy hour specials from 5 to 7 p.m. It’s called “The Old City Social” and bars as diverse as Triumph, Bocca, Grey Lounge, Irish Pol and Positano Coast are pricing beers, cocktails and wines at $3 and selling apps for half off. High Street Grill: The Spring Craft Beer Festival at the Book House (the Mount Holly library) will include finger food and brews from national and local craft breweries. A special VIP luncheon will be held at noon and tickets must be purchased in advance at the Grill for $55, which includes entrace to all the day’s events. P.J. Whelihan’s Pub and Restaurant Haddon Township: A Parking Lot Palooza to Benefit the MS Society is a daytime parking-lot affair half a block from the bar. World Cafe Live: The Red Bull Big Tune is a Jamaican-inspired music-producer showcase that’s coming to Philly on its ten-city tour. At each stop, 12 producers will compete for the audience’s affection and votes.
